Which cities have the highest murder rates? Which countries own the most US debt? Which states rely the most on federal aid? How much money has the US given Ukraine since Russia’s invasion? Which US cities have the largest homeless populations?
Since 85% of the population in the United States live in urban areas, the real question is not about Red State versus Blue State, but Red CITY versus Blue CITY.
Check those statistics for elected officials Mayor, City Council, DA etc. — since that’s the question, in reality. I will leave it to others to do the research, but that’s the real question at hand here, not state color. And then, “causation versus correlation” becomes the next question, because other factors than politics can enter into the process.
New Orleans went berserk with crime right after a major hurricane. Just as one example.
A USC study found that violent crime increased by up to 5.7% on days with temperatures higher than 85 degrees.
A National Bureau of Economic Research study discovered that inmate violent crimes rise by 18% in the summer.
70% of all violent crimes are committed by those with poor education and poor economic family prospects.
“Blue versus red” damages prospects for valid Solutions.
Jumping to conclusions really is a bad habit humans get into, so it is great to investigate as granularly as possible before going out on a limb, that’s for sure! Thank you gentlemen for your comments.
