Does the oft-repeated expression “the other side of the aisle“ make you a little nuts? Legislative bodies practice seat assignment divisiveness while mandated to solve division for the country? Oops.
Maybe alternate blue and red seating assignments instead of color segregation “across the aisle”? Of course, 100% of lawmakers would purport to oppose segregation outside of their chambers.
Segregation is also a vocabulary word in genetic science. A gamete is a reproductive cell (like a sperm or an egg) that carries half the genetic information of an organism. During reproduction, two gametes (one from each parent) combine to form a zygote, which then develops into a new organism.
Let’s have some fun and rearrange seating for them when they aren’t looking? Maybe they’d become friends and work better together? We could use more zygotes and fewer proud infertile gametes.
Intentional “Propinquity” is a very real scientific principle, in a workplace, in mixed-income housing, in international business and foreign relations, in a neighborhood, and in the halls of Congress.
