Forging Steel into Security

“Forging steel into security.” Why is ship building a big deal, when air superiority is a possibility? Isn’t that pretty old school?

Shipbuilding and a strong naval presence are foundational to national defense. Modern navies do much more than project military power; they deter aggression, protect trade routes, and ensure freedom of movement across the globe. With roughly 90% of global trade traveling by sea, controlling shipping lanes and maintaining maritime security are direct contributors to economic and strategic stability. Naval forces offer rapid response to global crises—whether military threats, humanitarian missions, or the need to reassure allies—and provide a visible show of national strength and technical capability.

Investing in shipbuilding isn’t just about building warships; it drives innovation in technology, steers economic growth, and safeguards a nation’s ability to shape global events. Neglecting these priorities risks diminished influence, economic vulnerability, and weaker security posture.

Not only can air power be projected in minutes rather than the hours required if deployed from a land base, but various kinds of kinetic force and surveillance can be operational and at the ready at all times from the Seas.
