“Mel Gibson” is a pretty smart dude, apparently. And, “gotta love the new hairdo.“
I “think” he is describing a pilot wave as a weather map — useful for predicting what happens, but not an actual physical thing causing the weather.
Bohm’s theory makes the mistake of treating the map as if it were the storm itself. And on top of that, it asks this invisible, undetectable “wave” to push particles around without spending any energy — which nothing in nature actually does. Good description got confused with hidden machinery.
Or, maybe this is just the “pilot“ for the next “Mad Max” series?

Valentini’s defense of the de Broglie-Bohm theory attempts to preserve a strictly mechanical realism by introducing an unobservable mathematical entity—the external pilot wave.
However:
Postulating an undetectable mechanism introduces a severe energetic paradox: it relies on a “quantum potential” where an infinitesimally weak wave supposedly exerts physical force without classical energy exchange, violating action-reaction. This violates ontological parsimony, mistaking the map (a mathematical model tracking regularities) for the territory (the analog, geometric reality itself) by reifying an abstract descriptive tool into a physical machine.
Relocating the concept of the “holomovement” from external physics to the cognitive domain resolves both this mechanical overreach and the energetic paradox, grounding the theory in observable biology and rigorous thermodynamics.
• The Mind as Holomovement: The holomovement is not an external, hidden physical wave, but the continuous, coherence-maintaining process of the mind. It is the optimized biological mechanism executing the FGDS process—digitizing the analog territory into symbols, models, and language to construct a usable reality.
• Consciousness as the Pilot: Rather than a literal physical wave guiding subatomic particles, consciousness acts as the pilot of coherence. It stabilizes a single experienced thread—a lived narrative or “movie in the mind”—out of a vast space of perceptual possibilities.
• Accountable Thermodynamics: Crucially, the energetic paradox of the pilot wave vanishes entirely in a brain-centric holomovement. Processing “active information” is not a mystical physical force guiding external reality; it is an internal biological function. The work required to filter the implicate complexity of nature into an explicate map consumes metabolic cellular energy. Therefore, where energy is consumed to drive this cognitive coherence, it can, in principle, be fully detected and measured strictly within real, orthogonal space.

By framing the holomovement as a cognitive process rather than a hidden physical variable, we avoid projecting phantom mechanics onto the territory. The universe exhibits structural stability; it is the biological intelligence observing it that functions as the optimizer, constructing a disciplined abstraction to stay oriented in the world.
Where there is energy being dissipated there will be detectable signals.
