Nightbirde

Nightbirde, the stage name of Jane Marczewski (1990–2022), was an American singer-songwriter who became a global symbol of hope and resilience after her appearance on America’s Got Talent (AGT) in 2021.

During her audition, Jane shared her battle with metastatic cancer, revealing she had only a 2% chance of survival as the disease had spread to her lungs, spine, and liver. Her heartfelt performance earned her Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, and she delivered the powerful message that has inspired millions:

“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”

The name “Nightbirde” was inspired by a recurring dream she had of birds singing in the darkness outside her window. On the third night of her dream, she awoke to find it was actually happening, and she was moved by the beauty of the moment. She aspired to be someone who “sang in the dark.”

Jane had to withdraw from AGT shortly after her audition due to declining health. She passed away on February 19, 2022, at the age of 31.

Her song reached #1 on iTunes and charted globally. In her memory, her family and friends established the Nightbirde Foundation to support women fighting breast cancer.

Happiness is a choice we can make, regardless of our circumstances. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose… to be conformed to the family likeness of His Son.

Happiness is a choice we can make, regardless of our circumstances, trusting that there are things at work that are bigger than our small perception of life. We can celebrate the bigger Life and be a joy to others, or we can burrow down into the dark hole of small, despairing or cynical self-life.

Be someone who “sings in the dark.” You can leave this present realm and present age better than you found it, if that is YOUR dream.
