Are you willing to pay the consequences of the displeasure of those who accomplish far less? Sometimes great innovators are risk-seeking man-children who resist potty training. Does great accomplishment often come from the willingness, the choice, to be untethered to others’ expectations?

Nicholas Tombs
There’s a lot being said these days about Elon Musk and none of it is good.
Just because you’re a billionaire doesn’t mean you’re a genius or good at business.

Hi Nicholas Tombs, From my colleagues at Harvard who actually have been colleagues of his, involved in the same technology spaces in the real world, I do know a good bit about him. He’s not known to be the most sophisticated technical guy, but neither was Einstein. There’s a place for melding together ideas and getting inspiration from a variety disciplines. He is very very good at that, say the people who know him well. The same said about Steve Jobs.
The majority of bad things said about him are not from people who know him or have worked with him shoulder to shoulder, but primarily by those who dislike his politics. He was a rockstar when he was bringing EV to the forefront, but not so much when he bought Twitter. Politics is a complex business, and not a fair measurement of you, or me, or anyone. That is a woefully incomplete picture of who a person is.
